    Derek Thornton, 31, passed away November 2, 2018. Derek was born on July 1, 1987, to Aaron and Pamela Jennings Thornton. Derek lived in the New DeRoche Community where he loved hunting, fishing and being outdoors. He was his dad’s “Tag Along” you hardly saw one without the other whether they were working on cars, hunting, or just out in the four-wheel drive. Derek is preceded in death by his mother, grandparents, and uncles.

    Derek is survived by his dad, Aaron Thornton; sisters, Amber Thornton and Sarah Thornton; as well as nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts, and a Special Uncle Edward.

    Visitation will be Tuesday, November 6, 2018, from 6-8 pm at the Atkinson Funeral Home in Malvern. Graveside Services will be held Wednesday, November 7, 2018, at 10:00 am at Prairie Bayou Cemetery in Bismarck with Pastor Blair Bates officiating. Pallbearers will be Jimmy Jackson, James Jackson, Eric House, Darren Dyer, Michael Anderson, and Patrick Phelps. Honorary pallbearers are Alan House, Darren Bunn and Edward Pilcher.

    My deepest condolences to the Thornton family, may you find comfort in prayer and the beautiful words of Isaiah 25:8 where God promises us that He will soon eliminate all death and suffering.
